Unforgettable

中学一年のときに初めて自分の小遣いで買ったLP。

あれから40年近く、気に入ったLPとLPプレーヤーは、子供たちが独立した後に再セッティングして楽しもうと、本棚、押入れ、倉庫と場所は変わったが保管し続けてきた。長男が再来年就職だし、次男も来年大学、あと5年くらいで、書斎コーナーが書斎に変わるかな、と楽しみにしていた。

ところが、9月のはじめに保管倉庫で事故。保管していたものの一部が被害にあった。残念ながらLPはすべてだめで、廃棄となった。。。せっかくこれまで苦労して持ち続けてきたのになあ。。。まあ、形あるものいずれ滅びるから、たまたまそれがいまその時が来ただけと思うしかないな。

ということで、一番お気に入りのLPのジャケット写真をネットから集めた。ささやかな追悼。

中学時代の一番のお気に入り、Creedence Clearwater Revival。John Fogertyの声はいまだに耳に残る。

高校時代、バンド活動の頃の一番のお気に入りでいまだにコピーが弾けるAllman Brothers Band。この曲をもう40年近く聴き続けている。いまでもFillmore Eastのギターのアドリブは最高だと思う。Les Brers In A Minorは高校一年の文化祭の体育館で、人前で初めて弾いた曲。そして、Laylaのスライドギターは泣ける。ライブで弾いた曲が山ほどある。

このあたりは通っぽいGrand Funk RailroadとWishbone Ash、それに少しポピュラーなSantana。

ここからイギリス系になってDeep PurpleとLed Zeppelin。Ritchie BlackmoreのHighway Starは当時のギター少年のコピー対象曲の一番。Zeppelinの音はいまでこそ普通に聞こえるが、当時は独特で、鉛を飲んだような、そして研ぎ澄まされた刃物のような、そんな感じがした。

こちらは少しプログレッシブなEmerson, Lake & PalmerとYes。このあたりから英国ものが好きなのも不思議なもの。

そしてPink Floyd。大作Echoesには10台半ばで人生を感じた。何気なく聞いていたTimeの歌詞が、いまからよく読んでみると、決して当事30歳になるかならないかぐらいの若者が書いた詩とは思えないほど人生の示唆に富む。音楽もいまだに古臭さを感じさせない。おそるべし。
